Emotions are so voluble that an exact event can have two opposed outcomes in different people. Even for me depending on my situation same things affect me differently. When I do a project sometimes I feel proud. I think “Well, I’ve been able to go all this way through and the results are not bad at all”. However depending on how this construction process developed, other times I feel frustrated, even if the final result is actually good.
Expectations have a lot to do with this. They set the level of quality you want from something and that has nothing to do with the object; it is completely subjective.
So I guess pride and disappointment are two sides of the same coin. Both are good – without disappointment it would be hard to improve things – but as everything else, they have to be experienced with moderation
